Patrick Telfer is a sound engineer and artist working on Wurundjeri land. With a keen interest in the limitations and possibilities of technology, and a love of all things exploratory—from the experimental and weird to the most polished pop music—Patrick is able to work in a wide variety of contexts, with attention to detail, kindness and creativity.
After years of experimental home recording and DIY projects, Patrick refined his practice under the tutelage of John Lee at Phaedra Studios. He is now employed as a recording engineer at the Victorian College of the Arts, working with acclaimed local and international artists on both commercial and academic projects.
Patrick’s expertise has seen him take on diverse roles, from realising a large-scale interactive sound installation at Melbourne’s White Night, to working as an audio streaming consultant for the ABC comedy Retrograde. His most recent project is Isolation Improvisation Collective, which brings together musicians, visual artists and dancers to collaborate in real time online in response to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Patrick prides himself on excellence, adaptability and problem solving, bringing his creative spirit and technical skills to each and every project.
